Facsimile of the Future

The text is removed from a well know work by spray painting over it. It is usual in collage to add elements, but I have been exploring what taking away does. What is created when we simply subtract a main element, and what does this reveal?

Also, the technique of spray painting over someone else's work suggests wilful vandalism and a nod to street art. Both of which raise questions about the legitimacy and legality that exist in appropriation art. For a long time I have had a dislike of copyright, and very much believe that art can be made just as validly from something that already exists as it can from a blank canvas.
